DVD Architect Studio won't start up was created by editpo

Hi there
Been using DVDA studio 5 for quite a while and never really had any problems.
Today it wont start up. It starts a process in task manager but wont actually start running.
I am using Win 10. I have reinstalled DVDA and done the Shift/ctrl start thing to no avail.
I have tried running as Administrator.
Could it be a windows update has changed something?
Anyone else had this problem?

Hi Editpo and welcome to the MSZ Forum.

It definitely sounds like an update has done something to your computer.

The first thing you need to look at is Windows/Programs & Features (right-click Windows Start button to access).
Then press the Installed On column until it shows the most recent program updates/installs.
Is there anything that has installed itself that you don't recognise ?

If you have Windows Restore for your C-drive turned ON, the best thing to do is roll back your computer to a date that it was working OK.
Right-click Windows Start and select System/System Protection - then press System Restore and Next.
I recommend turning ON Show more restore points.
Select a date from before problem started and then follow instructions.
After the computer re-boots you will be back in time.
Check DVDA.

If there are no Restore Points, you will not be able to restore.
In that case I recommend you pull out the BIG guns and do a complete Clean Install of all your Sony programs.
This is the only way to guarantee anything corrupted is properly removed.
Instructions listed here:

I have done this myself many times and it is safe to do if you go slowly.

Report back when you have finished.

Regards
Derek

Thanks for your reply.
Done all that and...no change.
However running it in XP compatibility mode seems to get it going which will help me get this job out.
Cant see anything else that has changed.
I downloaded the Magix DVDA trial and that's the same.

I am on Windows 10 and have not experienced any problems using DVDA.

Did you upgrade your computer from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 ?
If you did, did you just do the automatic upgrade or did you also do a Clean Install of Windows 10 ?

It sounds like a Windows component that helps run DVDA has become corrupted.

Many people including myself, experienced huge problems with their Sony software after completing the automatic upgrade to Windows 10.
The reason was because too much garbage from the previous operating system, was polluting the computer and causing conflicts like you are experiencing.
The only way to get all your programs working in tip top condition, is to perform a clean install of Windows 10.
Yes it is a pain to do, but the benefits are worth it.

I made a tutorial explaining what to do here:
How to do a Clean Install of Windows 10

Yes I did an automatic upgrade. Bit wary of doing a clean install as everything else including my main editing program is working fine.
Something to think about as Its working Ok in XP mode
In the meantime thanks for your suggestions.
