I wanted to burn some M Type DVDs. I purchased an LG DVD burner and it did Blu Ray also. I worked for a couple of DVDs. Did the M Type and the Blu Ray DVDs I wanted then, it gave me the fatal disk error disk may be dirty or corrupt and to check further details click here. I get the following:
'SFMMCX'-(17)
''-(2)
-'ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.03'-(0)
Module c:\src\sonic3\main\cddrvs\sfcd\sfmmcx.cpp Line 2187
A medium error occurred.
A write error occurred. Make sure your media is approved for this drive.

Specific: 00 00 00
Extra: 00 00 00 00 00 00 6f 00 77 00.
I sent it back figuring it was defective and went back to my ASUS writer and it worked fine except I wanted to do Blu Ray and M Type DVDs. So, I had them replace it with the same one. I got the same results right away. I sent that back and bought the ASUS model: BW-16D1HT and it burned a DVD and I thought I solved the problem. Next disk was the same thing error or dirty disk problem. I go back to my old ASUS and it works fine. It works outside of Architect with DVDFab and it burns CDs as well. Has anyone solved this mystery?

Try creating an iso file in DVDA instead of burning. Then burn this iso outside of DVDA.

Someone on the official Vegas Forums, experienced the exact same error in 2014.
www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/disc-operation-a-write-error-occurred--99216/

In your Local Disc (C:) drive, is there really a folder called "src" ?
c:\src\sonic3\main\cddrvs\sfcd\sfmmcx.cpp
What is "src" where the fault is located ?
I do not have this folder in my C-Drive and am wondering what it is for ?

I just found another even older forum thread about the exact same problem!
www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/error-when-burning-dvd--92349/

Looks like the problem may be simply that your project is too big to fit on the disc.

Let's go back a few steps...
When the error occurs, what type of disc are you trying to burn ?
DVD or Blu-ray ?

Did you first render your videos with Vegas Pro or Vegas Movie Studio ?

What is the total length in time of ALL the videos that are going onto the disc ?

Are your trying to create an NTSC (29.97 fps) or PAL (25 fps) disc ?

The problem is i can write to my old ASUS drive no problem. When i put the new one in the same location and wires i get the error. There's something different with the new drives that Architect pro 6 doesn't like. Same DVD-R disks work with the old writer but not with the new writer. I contacted ASUS and they say the problem is not with their drive it's with the software. Is Architect pro 6 old and i should spend $99 on the new Architect and if I do will I have the same problem? Can't go to Magix with this issue they wouldn't help me with my Vegas Pro 13 saying it was too old to deal with.
I rendered the video in Vegas Pro 15 and went to Architect pro6 to burn to DVD-R. No problem with the old drive same file problem with the new drive same file

Have you tried Ticking/Unticking "Use Legacy Disc Drivers" in Options\Preferences\Burning?

I musta gone through 20 DVDs trying to resolve this issue. I hope this helps someone else having this issue. Too bad ASUS didn't make an attempt to see if that was the problem even though it was in my software and not their drive. I feel like contacting them again and mentioning it.
