Issues with NewBlue Titler was created by MrGrunthunter

Whenever I try and select NewBlue Titler EX my VEGAS PRO 14 crashes. The other NewBlue Titler Pro Express seems to work OK. The question is how do I get rid of the NewBlue Titler EX from the VEGAS PRO menu. I don't see it in the Windows program folder to delete it.

The version of Titler Pro EX that is crashing in Vegas Pro, is from when you installed a version of Vegas Movie Studio Suite on your computer.
I don't know of any way to remove this entry from showing up in Vegas Pro.
I no longer have this version installed on my own computer, so I can't remember what the program file is called in Windows Programs & Features.
What I do remember, is that it was part of a New Blue FX bundle for Vegas Movie Studio Suite.
The program app name may say MSPPS in the title.

The best thing to do is just don't touch it when using Vegas Pro and then it won't crash.
Remember to turn everything off at least once a week, including your brain, then sit somewhere quiet and just chill out.
Unplugging is the best way to find solutions to your problems.
Peace :)

Aha .. I went back and opened my Movie Studio Platinum 13 an it does work fine there. When I try and use the Titler Pro Express however it works but it leaves a big red X across the title. I think I actually like how the Titler EX works in my Movie Studio better than how the Titler Pro works in my Vegas Pro 14. You can visually see all of the text attributes and pick from one you like. Is there a way to create a title in Movie Studio and use it in Vegas Pro ?

Most titles made with New Blue Titler are quite short, so what you could do is render just the Titles to Video for Windows .avi - which is an uncompressed format. Using this output format, gives you the ability to render a video that saves the background as a transparent Alpha Channel. So that when you import the short text video into another project, you can place videos or pictures underneath and the text, so that the Text sits on top.

Here is what I mean:

Step 1 - Go to Render As and select Video for Windows .avi
Select Customize template.

Step 2 - Make sure to set the Frame Rate of video to match project properties frame rate and set to Progressive Style video.
Set to include Alpha Channel.

Step 3 - Import new text video into your main project.
Right-click the video and go to Media tab.
Set Alpha Channel to Pre-multiplied.
Now anything on a video track below this text event, will show through.

Remember to turn everything off at least once a week, including your brain, then sit somewhere quiet and just chill out.
Unplugging is the best way to find solutions to your problems.
Peace :)

Great info Derek and greatly appreciated. I'll have to print this out and save.

JUST FOR INFO ONLY, I had some followup questions with NewBlue Customer Support and they pretty much confirmed that no update was released for Titler EX and it was only good for the earlier version of SMS and also that there is no way to remove it from the drop down menu in VEGAS PRO. Would maybe have been nice if it could be renamed to reflect a SMS usage only.
Your solution is the BEST Derek !

Mike, that all sounds correct.

  • There is no way to activate TitlerEx to work in Vegas Pro 14.
Also TitlerEx has not been updated since Movie Studio 13 so I can understand that it might have an issue in Vegas Pro 14.

1.) What would be the replacement for TitlerEX for using in VEGAS Pro
and what would it cost to upgrade?

2.) Is there a way to remove TitlerEX from VEGAS Pro 14 without
removing it from Sony Movie Studio 13 ?

I understand and do sympathize with you.
  • Log in at www.newbluefx.com/login and you will see your upgrade options to Titler Pro 5.
As both Vegas Pro and Movie Studio look for plugins in the same location, if you remove it from one, you will also remove it from the other.

Edward,
Thank you for the reply. I wish there was a way to isolate TitlerEX
from VEGAS Pro because occasionally I'll accidentally click on it and
VEGAS crashes on me and if I'm in the middle of a project I have to
start all over again.

I understand.
Titler Pro Express is not a title "designer". It is designed for a quick titler using the available templates where you only change the text. To design titles, you will need Titler Pro 5.
