Solved MAGIX Vegas Pro 15 sound problem
Hi again,
I now have my new PC up and running and have upgraded from Vegas Pro 14 to Vegas Pro 15. Before everything was working fine.
Now when I play a clip on the timeline I just get a constant hiss for the sound. Also the Master Meter does not move up and down and I get nothing on the Preview Meter. The meter on the audio track just is at maximum with no movement.
In Preferences, Audio Device Type I have tried all the options; Windows Classic Wave Driver, Microsoft Sound Mapper and Direct Sound Surround Mapper but with no joy.
I am sure all is connected correctly. When I just try and play music or a video clip outside Vegas Pro 15 the sound is fine.
My Vegas Pro 15 Build is 321 which I believe is the latest available.
Any help and suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
BobH

It sounds like you have a problem with your computer's Audio Drivers.
Maybe your Audio Driver is missing or needs updating to a newer build version.
Did you buy a store bought computer or build a computer yourself ?
If you bought a computer, which make and model is it ?
If you built your own computer, which make and model is the Motherboard ?
Most computers and motherboards, use Realtek Audio Drivers.
The Audio Hardware is normally integrated into the Motherboard itself.
If you have a dedicated Sound Card for more advanced audio features, then you will be using a different type of Audio Driver.
Go to the Windows Control Panel and open the Device Manager window.
On a Windows 10 machine, there are two options that show your Audio Configuration.
Area #1 is at top of screen:
Area #2 is near bottom:
Can you take some screen shots and show what you have installed ?
If you have Realtek Audio Drivers installed, you should see them listed under Programs and Features list.
Windows Classic Wave Driver is normally the best option.
Are all your Windows Updates, up to date ?
Check now if you haven't.
It might be a good idea to reset Vegas Pro 15 as well.

âšī¸ Remember to turn everything off at least once a week, including your brain, then sit somewhere quiet and just chill out.

Hi Derek and once again thank you for getting back to me so promptly with your suggestions.
I believe the audio on my raw media must have been corrupted for some reason. I tried some previous clips and they seemed fine in VEGAS Pro 15. So I now have to decide whether I am able to do anything with my source files as I have never had this problem before.
Once again thanks for your time and help and also for such a great site.
Very best wishes
