This should be an easy one.
1. Right-click the track control box for your .png track.
2. Select Insert/Remove Envelope
3. Select Composite Level
4. Use the wheel on your mouse and zoom right in on the timeline.
Then drag your mouse across the parts you want to be invisible, to create a Loop Region.
5. There will be a thin blue line (composite envelope) at the top of video track.
Pull it straight down to zero, then click anywhere on the timeline to disengage the loop region.
6. It will have a very steep angle just off 90°.
To make it a hard right angle, move the key-frame point to the side and it will snap into place.
The end.
Tip: Make sure when it is time to render, you don't render a Loop Region, otherwise only a tiny section will render.
