Render times for Vegas Pro 17 was created by ilyk49

Hi Derek

Another quick question regarding VP17. The blurb from Magix says VP17 will render your final project up to twice as fast as previously using GPU. However, I have found that there is no increase at all in render times on my system over the render times I experienced in VP15. My card is a GeForce GTX 1080. What has been your experience? Is there a setting that needs to be activated in order to get the claimed increased render time?

Thanks

Peter

I just posted this reply in another forum thread:
www.moviestudiozen.com/forum/general-computer-hardware/2290-what-is-the-best-graphics-card-for-vegas-movie-studio?start=10#12370

On my computer, I'm still using a 4x Core Intel i7-2600k.
A few weeks ago I upgraded from an old Nvidia GTX 570 to Nvidia RTX 2060 (mid-range GPU).

When I render using Nvidia NVENC default settings, my render times are more than twice as fast than only using the CPU (sometimes almost 3x times as fast).

On the official Vegas Pro forums, I learnt how to configure the Nvidia Control Panel for Vegas Pro.

Step 1 - Install Studio Drivers
www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx#
This driver should be compatible with your GTX 1080.
Please read what I said in the thread linked above, about Standard vs DCH drivers.

Step 2 - Configure Nvidia control panel
Right-click your desktop and select Nvidia Control Panel
Select Manage 3D Settings
Select Program Settings tab
Press Add and select Vegas Pro 17 icon.
Scroll down to find OpenGL rendering GPU
Select your graphics card

Step 3 - Turn on GPU in Vegas Pro
Open Vegas Pro and go to Options/Preferences/Video
GPU Acceleration
Select your GPU
Re-boot Vegas
Open Vegas and perform render test

 Remember to turn everything off at least once a week, including your brain, then sit somewhere quiet and just chill out.

Thanks Derek

I think I now know what I'm doing wrong. I wasn't using the NVIDIA NVENC 50fps template. I was just using the normal 50fps template. I will try with the NVIDIA NVENC 50fps template. Thanks for the quick help.

Cheers
