Question Rendering Progress Dialog in VEGAS Pro18
Hi all,
When rendering in VEGAS Pro 18, I seem to have lost the Progress Dialog Box showing the progress of the render. I have Reset the program to default values. Any Idea what has happened and how I can get it back.
Thanks
BobH

Hi Bob
There are only two conditions I am aware of, that could cause this.
Do you use 2x Monitors ?
Sometimes if you use 2 computer monitors and programs that have pop-up screens, the pop-up screens can get lost on the wrong monitor.
If you are using 2 monitors, make sure to have both screens turned on.
If you see the Rendering Progress window on 2nd screen, drag back to primary screen.
If you only use 1x monitor, the render progress window, may have dropped below the bottom Windows Taskbar.
To see if window is hiding here, you need to temporarily hide the Windows Taskbar.
On Windows 11, right-click taskbar and select Taskbar Settings.
At bottom of window is Taskbar Behaviour.
Open up and turn ON Automatically hide the taskbar.
Render something in VEGAS Pro.
If you see the missing window, drag it up.
Now reverse Taskbar settings.
Let me know if you found the solution.
Regards
Derek

Hi Derek and thank you once again for your time.
Yes I have two monitors but it is not on the second screen.
I disabled the taskbar on both monitors, but still no sign of the render progress box, so still stumped.

I looked through all the Bug Fixes released for VEGAS Pro 18 (
on my own website here ) and found that the Render As dialog box missing, is listed as a bug fix, in the final build ever released for VP18.
The final build version for VEGAS Pro 18 was #527 - installing this should fix your problem.
My guess is you have a lower version installed - go to Help / About to find your current build version.
If you don't have #527 installed, go to this page and download Build #527 from link - this is an official MAGIX link, so it's safe.

Right-click download link on my updates page and select Save Link As, otherwise security protocols will block it.

Hi Derek and thank you once again. My Build is 527 which as you say is the final version. I could uninstall and then reinstall, but just one question please. I bought VEGAS Pro18 as an upgrade from VEGAS Pro 17, so will I have any issues if I uninstall and reinstall? Will I need to have my code for VEGAS Pro 17 as well as that for VEGAS Pro 18? All help and advice appreciated.
THanks again.

Upgrades only refer to the price you pay.
Every version of VEGAS installed on your computer is completely independent of each other and the full version of the program.
The only thing I can imagine that may be causing your missing pop-up window (now), is a problem with one of the Microsoft .NET programs installed on your computer.
The are certain Microsoft resources that can effect things like rendering.
Make sure you have any Windows Updates installed and up to date.
I'm using Windows 11, so everything I say now, relates to W11.
Open the Windows Settings window and go to Windows Update.
Select Advanced Options.
Make sure Receive updates for other Microsoft products is turned ON.
Go back to previous pages and press Check for Updates.
Install anything new that may arrive.
Then go back to Advanced Options - scroll down and see if there is anything waiting to be installed in the Optional Updates section - install if anything here.
This is often where .NET updates live.
If there were any updates that got installed, re-boot your computer now.
Now see if VEGAS is working correctly now.
If the Render dialog box is still missing, I recommend a Clean Install of VEGAS.
A clean install means doping a deep removal of all program components, before re-installing program.
I recommend using a free program called REVO Uninstaller, to remove VEGAS Pro 18.
REVO is safe to use.
I posted instruction for how to use REVO in this forum thread here:
Ignore all the first parts where I mention Titler Pro - treat this as an example of how to use the program.
www.moviestudiozen.com/forum/vegas-pro/3215-titler-pro-7-not-opening-after-installing-vegas-pro-20#15989
After uninstalling VEGAS Pro 18, download a fresh copy of VP18 and install.
I recommend using the VEGAS Download Manager, which you can download from this page here:
www.moviestudiozen.com/free-tutorials/doctor-zen-faq/vegas-pro-18-update-history
If you can't register VP18 after uninstalling, you will have to login to your MAGIX account and deactivate ALL license activations for VP18.

Hi again Derek,
I have followed your instructions to the letter, but having reinstalled VEGAS Pro18, I still do not get the Render Progress Screen. I guess I will just have to live with this and do without it. Anoying but not the end of the world.
If you have any further ideas, but if not, thanks for your help and suggestions.

Sorry for the delay in replying back....... I tore the calf muscle in my right leg and injured my left foot.
The only thing I can imagine that maybe causing your problem, is a fault with Microsoft .NET Framework, which is a program that VEGAS relies upon, to make it work correctly.
Try solution #3 in this FAQ article:
www.moviestudiozen.com/free-tutorials/doctor-zen-faq/why-have-some-of-the-rendering-template-options-disappeared-from-the-render-as-window
If that does not fix problem, post a message on the official VEGAS Forums here.
Make sure to tell them what you have already tried first.
If you discover a solution, please post message back here !
