Having at last got around to moving from Vegas Movie Studio 17 Platinum to Vegas Pro 21 I'm very impressed with its Smart Adaptive Deinterlacing.  My 12 year old PAL AVCHD 1080 camera shoots 50i, not 50p.  So I prefer to export as 50i (interlaced) mt2s for viewing on my TV as it is often stated that hardware does a better job of deinterlacing than software.  That I used to find was true but that has now changed.  Importing my completed 50i exported video files into VP21 and exporting as 50p using Smart Adaptive Deinterlacing in the Project Settings gives great results.  There's no visible quality loss with either Sony AVC mp4 or Magix AVC mp4 and as commented in a post I found on the Magix Vegas forum "no more jagged road markings".

I was using Handbrake to convert my 50i to 50p for Vimeo and Youtube as it gave better results that VMS17 deinterlacing but VP21 Smart Adaptive is now my preferred choice.

Hi Eric
Thanks for posting your positive experience with using Smart Adaptive Deinterlacing in VEGAS Pro 21.
I haven't tried using this feature yet, but will give it a go now.
Cheers
