When working o the Timeline and needing to refresh my Explore content on the Vegas Pro 22 environment I notice that the refresh button has no effect at all, I must close my window and reload it to see the changes...is that a known issue with that version of VP?...Thanks

Hi Michel
Just tested VEGAS Pro 22 Explorer window, and when I add a new video or audio file to a folder in Windows, it does show immediately in VEGAS Pro after I press the Refresh button. I am not aware of any issue that exists in build version #250 for VP22.

Make sure you have the final build version for VEGAS Pro 22 installed, which is Build Version #250 (Update 5).
Go to Help / About in VP22, to find the build version you have installed.
I have official download links in my Update History page for VP22 here:
www.moviestudiozen.com/free-tutorials/doctor-zen-faq/vegas-pro-22-update-history

Something interesting I found...
I checked the release notes of all build versions released for VEGAS Pro 22.
I did find a release note for Build Version #122 - Update 1, which listed this problem as been fixed:
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the Explorer window to not properly update after redocking
Something to try
I have noticed that sometimes after you install any update for VEGAS Pro, the parts of the program may not work correctly until you do a full program reset.
Make sure you have build version #250 installed, then perform a full program reset. I'm sure you know how to do this, but if unsure, here are the instructions:
www.moviestudiozen.com/free-tutorials/doctor-zen-faq/how-to-reset-sony-software-to-default-settings#a1
Please note that after a reset, you will have to reconfigure any custom settings you changed in the program!

Regards
Derek

Hi,
Hope everyone is ok? I do have Build 250 and been having problems with the refresh button since writing my message a couple months ago. I must close Vegas, reopen the project, cross my fingers that the refresh button will do it's work...and most of the time it does. But it's a long way from just clicking on refresh!

A few moments ago, I just received an update for my Vegas Pro 22 app. Hoping I'd have a refresh update amoung the few included in that message, I rapidly saved the project I was working on, a bit to fast probably, pressed on something I wasn'b supposed to, after all I was yet ready to install that new update. I must tell you that it's always a mystery when receiving an update from Magix. It does say it's downloading it but...where? Not in my General DL file? If someone knows where it is, I would appreciate discovering that info...thanks!

Hi Michel.  Somethings not right here as I note that the "Check for Software Updates" dialog bos identifies the latest version as 23.0.0.278 and not 22.0.0.278.  I'm thinking maybe a typo in the download link. Cheers, Robbie

23.0.0.278 was actually the inital release of VP23. Definitely a glitch of somekind  flagging it as a new update for VP23. Cheers, Rob B

EDIT - unless you have a VP22 subscription maybe??

Sorry I am late to the party in this revived thread. It seems to have transformed into a slightly different topic now.
As I said in my original reply to you, the Refresh button works 100% OK on my PC, when using VEGAS Pro 22 build #250, which was the final build version released for VP22. I have not heard of any other people reporting problems with this function. The only possibility I can think of is you might have a Windows Folder Permissions problem. Windows Security settings can be very sensitive to giving access to other programs. I know from personal experience that if a folder in Windows accidentally has the wrong Security permissions applied to it, it can be impossible to read/write or delete. Having external drives connected to your computer can also cause problems.

To check Folder Security settings, right-click a folder, go to Properties / Security.

I would also recommend checking all the primary level folders & any attached devices in the Explorer tree on left hand side. Make sure nothing weird is connected, that maybe causing refresh to stall.

VEGAS Pro Update message
As Robbie suggested, the only thing that would be producing the update message you are seeing Michel, is if you actually bought a VEGAS Pro 365 subscription license, back when you bought VEGAS Pro 22. When you buy a 365 subscription license, the Update function in VEGAS Pro will report that A new version of your Software is available, when VP23 was released.

I am guessing the message you are seeing looks exactly like this:

If you didn't buy a 365 subscription license and are getting the above message, then something very, very strange has happened to your license key. A real X-file!

Hi Derek,

We wern't around for the last two weeks. Reading your latest answer to my ''refresh'' issue. Yep, still there and must close everything so that the refresh button will work. Is there something I must look for when activation of ''propreties/security''?

Yes the ''updqate'' message is exactly like the one shown, but I never could activate it nor find the DL file on my system? Also, I presume that Vegas 365 is a bit like Office 365 were you pay a once a year fee to maintain the app active? I don't have that, and I took special care in being sure that that was not what I was purchasing when buying Vegas Pro 22.

I did reinstall the app hoping it would correct the Refresh issue to no avail. Note that it's not a major glitch, just a bit of frustration...but you have to endure those few glitches with Vegas!?

Thanks gain for the answer Derek and have  a Great one.

Michel.

Hi Michel
I don't understand why you are having this refresh problem. It has to be something simple and hiding in plain sight - that would be my guess.
It's one of those things that only access to your computer could possibly solve.

Windows files permissions & security settings is one the very worst rabbit holes you can fall into!
I've personally wasted many, many days of my life, trying to work out why a specific combination of file security settings was blocking me from Changing and/or Deleting certain files. Sometimes I think it can be caused by a corrupt sector or File Table on your Hard Drive and/or a Windows glitch. The possibilities are endless. Recently, I had a brand new Hard Drive go bad on me. All sorts of weird shit was happening before I realized the actual physical drive was causing all the problems.

Where I have experienced the most File Security Setting problems, is on secondary hard drives. If you reinstall Windows on a system, Windows can think any secondary drives it sees are from a different system after the reinstall. It gets complicated. Sometimes I've had to remove old accounts that just show characters instead of names in the Group / User Names section.

Inspecting File Permissions on Windows 11
Each level of the folder/file structure may show different combinations of Users, Accounts, etc...
The safest most accurate way is to start at the This PC level, which will show you all Drives and Devices connected to your computer.
Double-click your C or D drive.
Keep opening until you find the Users folder.
Right-click Users and go to Properties / Security
Administrators
should show full Allow permissions

Open Users folder and find your specific user folder - might be named "Michel".
You can check Security for this as well.

Keep opening deeper and deeper levels, to find Documents, Videos, Music, etc...
Check these Security permissions.
Keep going to find the folders you are having problems with in VEGAS Pro.

The main thing is to see Modify, Read, Write, etc... permissions.

VEGAS Pro License Key
I'm guessing your License Key has had something weird happen to it.
It's not a 365 license key, but VEGAS Pro thinks it is ???
This may have something to do with MAGIX changing activation servers to a new setup. Who knows??? I can't tell.
