Hi Belial369 and welcome to the MSZ Forum

This is a great question, but not easy to answer briefly.
Give me 24 to 48 hours and I will upload something for you.

Regards
Derek

I have just published a new tutorial and video that explains how to create Multi-Screen Video FX.

Hi Folks,
The YouTube clip is part of a video record of some work we're having done on our house. All of it is in 1/4 split screen format. I started by using the grid in the preview screen to position each 'quarter' but wasn't happy with the result. Then Derek produced his brilliant tutorial and I've been able to accurately set up the screen by dialling in the co-ordinates in Track Motion.
I wanted to 'freeze' each 'live' clip and leave it on the screen until all four videos have run and the only way I could think to do this was to take a snapshot of the last frame of each live video clip and add it onto the timeline after the video clip. It works OK but it's a bit of a faff. Does anyone know of a quicker/easier way to 'freeze' a video clip and then hold it on the timeline for as long as required.
Thanks and a Happy Christmas to everyone.

Hi Tuppers,

Derek has this excellent tutorial to futher explain the method you have already used: How to Freeze a Video Using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10

At this link, Sony explains several ways to freeze a frame: How to Freeze Frame

I do as you have already done, split, copy frame, insert frame, size to time, done. However, this is the Vegas Pro forum, so assuming you have Vegas Pro, trying out the velocity envelopes may be more to your liking. I have tried velocity envelopes in the trial version of Vegas Pro 13 and it is fairly simple. Both methods seem to have advantages.

Thanks George. I saw the subject title and posted before I realised I'm on the wrong forum. I'm using SMSPS 12 and I've no idea how to move this to the right one.
I'm editing the video in 'Trimmer' and then importing it into the timeline. When I go to take a snapshot it's of the whole screen and not just the 'quarter' that's got the video clip in it. I assume therefore that the only way to use Derek's method is to edit the video on the timeline?

Tuppers

Hi Tuppers,

You should be able to edit your video in the Trimmer, then from there put it on the Timeline. Once on the Timeline, take a snap shot (in Best Full) of the last frame and place it at the end of the track event. Then go to Track Motion on the Timeline for the Event, as in Derek's tutorial. Change the size and position per Derek's instructions. This will effect everything on that track, so the video and the freeze frame still at the end should size the same.

I just tried this in my version 12 Platinum and it seem to work pretty slick. Please let me know if this wroks for you and I have explained it well.
Best Regards......George

Hi Tuppers

Don't worry about posting in the Vegas Pro sub-forum.

Hopefully you have found a solution by following the advise other members have posted here.
If you are still having any problems, open each video clip into a new Movie Studio Project and take a full screen snap shot there and then save the .jpg or.png file back into your main project's folder. Then you can just drag a drop the still images directly onto your timeline.

Derek.

Thanks Eagle Six. I haven't tried that but it would make sense to do all the 'snapshots' on the timeline and THEN quarter the screen with the track motion on each video track. I'll try it next time!
Cheers,
Tuppers
