I am first of all trying to figure out how to leave a message on this site. Not your fault, I am just too uninformed in these matters. I just want to introduce myself and know that I am able to communicate with the forum. Also I just bought a MacBook Pro (used) and am trying to figure out how to use it. I have been using Windows based computers since the beginning. I have Movie Studio Platinum V13 (Windows based) and would like to know if you have the Mac version available on sale. It is hard to find Mac version online. Thanks for all the really great tutorials you have made available. Without them I would not be using Movie Studio at all.

Hi Don and welcome to the MSZ Forum.

You have now successfully posted your first message. The first message is always moderated, to make sure you are not a spammer. The next time you post a question, it will get published immediately.

There is no Mac version of Movie Studio software. There are rumours that this may be being worked on, however Sony never announces new products until they are ready.

You can install any Windows based program on a Mac, however you have to do a few extra steps first.
First you install a program that allows you to Boot into the Mac operating system or Windows.
Next you create a partition on the Mac's Hard Drive or SSD.
You also have to buy an OEM copy of Windows like Windows 7, 8 or 10 - Windows 10 would be my choice and then install this into the partition.
When you boot your Mac, you can boot into Windows or Apple OS.
Now you can install Movie Studio.

Read these two articles:

support.apple.com/en-au/HT204990

There is also an alternative way you can install Windows with a program called Parallels.

Hi there, and a happy New Year!
I am new to SVP Pro 13. What a powerful, deep software that is and I'd like to thank Derek for his fab tutorials which helped me to get started. I made a small donation, certainly just a drop on a hot stone as we say in German, but I felt I need to give something back. As I said I am new to SVP Pro, so forgive me my newbee questions that I will certainly have. How did I get into Video Editing? Well, in my spare time I am working with Audio Software like Cubase and Studio One for many years, hence I am quite familiar with the world of VSTs (virtual instruments). Two years ago I got me a Sony consumer HD Camcorder and similarly to the Audio world I wanted to get my hands on the material and slice it to my needs. At first I used the Movavi Video Editing Suite for a while, but as my requirements grew I was faced with lots of limitations. I then got my hands on Edius Neo, a cut down version of the Edius Pro software. It is very fast (despite this cutdown version only being a 32 bit app). But somehow it did not get my creativity going and also there was no upgrade path for the Edius Pro version. I then tested SVP Pro and this was much more to my liking and 4 weeks ago I bit the bullit and bought SVP Pro 13 Suite.
So, I look forward to getting to know SVP and I think Derek's friendly and competent attitude is what brought me here in the end. Wishing you all a good 2016! Frank
