In this video I review all of the best main features and tools in Sony Vegas Pro 13.

Vegas Pro 13 comes with many powerful profesional video editing tools. Instead of trying to list and explain every single function and tool, I thought it would be better to focus on the most popular tools in this program. In the video tutorial I also share some handy tips about the best way to start a new project in Vegas Pro 13.

Topics Covered in the Video Tutorial

• Checking Vegas Preference Settings
• Importing Media
• Matching Media - Setting Project Properties
• Preview Window Settings
• Creating Proxy Video files for editing
• Event Pan/Crop - Masking Tool
• Track Motion - 3D Source Alpha
• Compositing/Blending Modes
• Multi-camera Editing
• Colour Correction Tools
• New Blue Fx Video Essentials VI
• Audio Mixing Console
• iZotope Nectar Elements - Audio Tools
• Rendering/Exporting Templates

Had to do a multi camera edit and had forgotten how to set it up. Vegas help was not very helpful so i came here. Vegas should change their help section to one sentence. "See Derek's website

Vegas has been sold by Sony to Magix. If you order Vegas 13 before August 31 2016 you can get it for $200 and a free upgrade to Vegas 14. What this means for the future of the product nobody knows but the current product is a good deal at that price.

I think that Derek has produced an excellent series of tutorials. I particularly enjoy watching them as you can always learn something new. Being in High Definition they are great to watch as well. Can't say I have seen anything on the Web to beat the overall quality!

Hi P.W.
Thanks for your message.
You can still upgrade to Vegas Pro 13 at a discounted price, just not at the extra special discount during the launch. If you press the Vegas Pro banner Ad on this page and then navigate to the Vegas Pro 13 page, you will find the normal Upgrade Pricing link.
Alternatively, you can wait for the next Sony Sale. Make sure you are subscribed to the Sony Creative Software Newsletter and you will be notified when the next sale is on. They normally do a few big promotions every year.
Thanks once again.

Understand completely Derek. I'm finding it is very GPU hungry and my graphics card is way underpowered.... Look forward to seeing your tutorial when you get a chance to put one together!

I am still learning Hitfilm 2 Ultimate and would not dare try to teach this, until I am a lot more experienced. It is something I really want to get in to, but I keep pushing it to the bottom of my In Tray, due to other projects I am currently working on.
It will happen eventually !

Once I upload a Video to YouTube, that never changes.
The Updated date and Published date, normally means I have found small typo errors in the article or added an extra link.
On the rare occasions where I make a major update to a written article, I normally Title the New Section "Special Update".

Hi Derek, really like your tutorials, very well done, thanks.

Question ... when the published & updated dates of a video tutorial are different, does this mean that the content of the original video tutorial is changed and may do with viewing again?

Thank you for this! I learned many things about Pro 13. So much so that I am going to upgrade from Pro 10.
Your tutorials that I have seen so far are very good. Easy to follow and understand. So please keep going.
Things like this are much needed at the semi-pro level, I believe. Thanks again.
