How to Add Chapter Points using DVD Architect Studio and Movie Studio

In this tutorial I show how to create Chapter/Scene Selection Points for a video that will be burnt to DVD or Blu-ray disc.

I will be using Sony DVD Architect Studio and Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 during the tutorial, however these instructions will also work in most versions of Movie Studio Platinum, Vegas Pro and DVD Architect Pro as well.

There are two ways you can add Chapter Points and Scene Markers.

#1 One way and probably the best way, is to add the points to your video while you are still in Vegas Movie Studio before you Render your video. In this video tutorial I show you how to render a DVD or Blu-ray Disc file using either Version 11 or Version 10 of Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum.

#2 You can also add Chapter Points to a Video if it is already in DVD Architect Studio 5.0. I will show you how to do this in the video as well.

Hello
After creating chapter points in DVDA what needs to be done in order for them to be accessed via the menu buttons. I think there has to be a way to link buttons to chapters so they can be accessed with a remote.

  I wrote instructions for how to create a Scene Selection Menu on my forum. A Scene Selection Menu can be generated from Chapter Markers in a video file.

I am perplexed. I drag my portrait .mp4 DROID videos into DVD Architect Studio 5.0 and they are landscape. I don't remember that happening before. How do I rotate them to portrait. Thank you!

  You will have to render your videos with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum before you import them into DVD Architect. Some videos from mobile phones, cannot be imported directly into video editing programs without having their properties adjusted, because the tags can't be read correctly. Import into Vegas and then right-click and select Properties. Here you will be able to rotate the video and re-render the way you want. Then import new video into DVDA.

  Thank you for the prompt reply! I am evaluating Movie Studio 15 right now and when I add the DROID videos they are rendered correctly, no rotation needed. The puzzling piece is that I have added portrait DROID videos directly into Architect as recently as December with no problem. So it makes me think that perhaps a DROID system upgrade added a "new feature" that disabled a function that worked fine! Always something!

  Update. Movie Studio 15 essentially pixelated the movie in portrait mode making it unsatisfactory. Strange. When I right click on a .mp4 file in Architect and select "Media Player" the file is rendered in portrait mode, but if you simply select "Play Media" it is rendered in landscape. I must have some switch turned on or off to cause this issue with Architect. Totally puzzling.

That's great! But I have a follow up question... Now that I've got all these swell Chapters, how do I convert those to Menu Options? It's all well and good to have chapters, but I want the end user to be able to select a chapter of their choice from the main menu. i.e.: Jump to Chapter 12. How do I do that?
