The Star Wars Credit Roll Effect can be created using the New Blue Titler EX which comes with Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 Suite & Imagination Studio 4.

To be able to create a perspective point that moves into infinity, you need to be able to tilt the video plane backwards. Under normal conditions this can only be achieved using Sony Vegas Pro, because only Vegas Pro can move the video plane in the X, Y and Z axis. Whereas all Movie Studio video editing programs, can only move the video plane in the X and Y axis.

Fortunately for Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 Suite and Imagination Studio 4 users, you can utlilize the New Blue Titler EX to create the "perspective look".

I have created a short "Star Wars" inspired Sci-Fi film made using the New Blue Titler Ex and Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 Suite, which shows the Star Wars Credit Roll effect in action. You may like to watch the example film first and then watch the tutorial video second.

All the instructions showing how to create the Star Wars Credit Roll effect are in the tutorial video.

Hi Derek - I have Movie Studio Platinum 12.0 but I do not have the 3D Source Alpha option. When I click on Compositing Mode the only options I have are "Source Alpha" and "Multiply (Mask)." Is there something I need to do so that option appears?

    Hope you can help!

If you installed NewBlueFX and they are not working, because you don't have the right type of Graphics Card, just un-install the NewBlueFX program. Then you can reset Movie Studio.
          Do this:
          Turn Movie Studio Off.
Hold down CONTROL and SHIFT keys at the same time AND ALSO AT THE SAME TIME double click program icon on Desktop to Boot program.
          Window will pop up.
          Select Delete Cache and Yes.
This will restore program to Factory Default Settings.

hi, first of all thanks for the exellent tutorials, they have been a massive help. I am a complete beginner, ive tried to do the stars wars effect credits, with the blue titler x, but when i drag and drop it on to the line, the boxs appears, on your tutorial, it clearly shows ENTER TEXT in the centre of the preview screen. on mine i can see the green dotted lines but no text. when i type it in nothing appears. any help would be appreciated.

      Hi Stuart
I haven't seen this happen before, so I am not sure what is wrong.
My first thought was that your computers GPU may not be powerful enough to run the Titler properly. It needs a lot of juice to work. However, normally the program will just not load at all if that is the case.
You could try a full Movie Studio program reset. This often clears strange bugs.
      Do this:
      Turn Movie Studio Off.
Hold down CONTROL and SHIFT keys at the same time AND ALSO AT THE SAME TIME double click program icon to Boot program.
      Window will pop up.
      Select Delete Cache and Yes.
This will restore program to Factory Default Settings.
There is another you should check, but I can't do it through this comments section. Send me an email to help@moviestudiozen.com and then I can send a Screen Shot to you which shows some settings to check.
      Regards
      Derek.

Derek, great job! The principles you've so clearly demonstrated can be applied in all sorts of ways. I'm still wading into VMS, so it's invaluable to get an helping hand on one more advanced features in the bundle that I haven't dug into yet. Thanks!

Glad you liked the tutorial and appreciated it.
It actually took me days to rehearse this tutorial until I made sure all the steps would work perfectly for everyone. Learning this program and all the extras can be overwhelming, however you will eventually reach a point were it all makes perfect sense.
      All the best Derek.
