How to Render GoPro 960p Video using Vegas Movie Studio & Vegas Pro

In this tutorial I show how to render 960p Video from a Go Pro video camera using Sony Vegas Pro 11 or Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.

I also go over the basics of all the other Video Sizes and Frame Rates that this camera can record at.

GoPro HD Hero2 shoots in four major modes and at different frame rates:

1080p: 1920x1080 30fps
960p: 1280x960 48fps or 30fps
720p: 1280x720 60fps or 30fps
480p: 848x480 120fps or 60fps

Setting up Vegas to render a 960p video can be done a couple of different ways due to 960p being a non-standard format.

hi Derek,

I just got a gropro not long ago and didn't realize the complications involved with editing in 960 48fps. Thanks so much for taking the time to help me with this. Your tutorial was a lot of help:)

  Using the 720-60p mode can make your life a lot simpler when it comes to editing, because it is ouputting to a standard Widescreen 16:9 Aspect Ratio.

  Please know that this tutorial is ONLY for when you shoot in the 960p Mode.
  When shooting in 1080p or 720p with the GoPro, you can use my normal rendering tutorials.
  Go to the Start Here menu on the website and then look at side Menu - Articles by Topic - Rendering Video with Movie Studio
  Here is list of ALL rendering tutorials.
  
  Another thing to note.
  Now that people have much faster Internet connections, you can leave the BitRate Settings at Default high values if you want Maximum quality in your rendered videos.
