How to Blur Out Someone's Face using Sony Vegas Movie Studio

In this video tutorial I show you how to blur someone's face out with the Cookie Cutter Tool and Pixelate Video Fx, using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.

I will also show how to duplicate a video and create keyframes, so that you can track an object with the blur effect staying over the target.

Learning this technique is essential for anyone who needs to maintian someone's privacy. You often see this effect being used during news items on the TV where a court order forbids the identity of an individual being made public.

These instructions will also work for Version 10 of Vegas Movie Studio & Vegas Pro 10 or 11.

Is Keyframe Animation for Video Effects gone in V13? I don't see the Keyframe panel on my Video Effects dialogs. Keyframe panel is only on the Pan/Crop dialog.

How do i adjust the length and width of the shape ive chosen

  There are no controls to adjust those parameters, as you can clearly see in the control box.
  You can adjust the position and size of the shape.
  If you are having difficulties in finding the right shape, you can always add more than one Cookie Cutter.
  First Clone another copy of your original video and place it on a new track above your first clone. You can right-click on any track to add another Video Track.
  Now drag a new instance of the Cookie Cutter onto the new video layer. Now you will have to use the re-sizer and positioner to joind your shapes together.

  It's a great tutorial to learn from because there are many techniques in this which you can apply to all the other Video Fx in Vegas.
  If you can learn how to use "keyframes" really well, it's makes life a lot easier in Vegas.
