In a world full of constant negative news, we finally have some very good news. Boris FX has bought Vegas Pro, Sound Forge and Acid Pro from Magix Software.
Vegas Pro is now a part of the Boris FX family. Boris FX is very well known video effects software company, that has a great reputation in the industry. Most Hollywood movies and TV shows today, have probably used one or more of Boris FX's software tools as part of the production. Vegas Pro and Boris FX have been working together for many years now and older versions of Vegas Pro, often came packaged with some of Boris's video plugins.

What is the new version of Vegas Pro now called?
Sony Vegas years...
Let's start with the basics. Way, way back, Vegas Pro used to be commonly called "Sony Vegas". That was a very recoginzable way of referring to Vegas Pro and Vegas Movie Studio Platinum products. When Sony sold Vegas Pro and it's companion products to MAGIX Software in Germany, people kept referring to Vegas Pro as Sony Vegas, even though Sony no longer had anything to do with it!
Magix Software era...
In the MAGIX Software era (that has now come to a complete end, thank God), Vegas Pro was written as "VEGAS Pro". "VEGAS" was always capitalized.
Boris FX new management begins!
"Vegas" is longer written in ALL CAPS under Boris FX management.
The new and very first version of Vegas Pro to be released by Boris FX is officially called Boris FX Vegas Pro 2026.
Boris FX can be written as Boris FX or BORIS FX. There is a gap between Boris and FX.
Vegas Pro can be written as Vegas Pro or Boris FX Vegas Pro (in full).
Where is the new Boris FX Vegas Pro website ?

Click on the link right now and it will open in a new tab for you.
If you hover over Products in the top menu, you will see a link for Vegas Pro near the bottom. You will also see separate links for other programs like Acid Pro and Sound Forge.
When you click on the link for Vegas Pro in the Products window, you will discover that it opens the existing Vegas Creative Software website, that Magix used to own. vegascreativesoftware.com is now under the full control of borisfx.com.
For now, vegascreativesoftware.com will remain the home for Vegas Pro.

How many editions of Boris FX Vegas Pro are there ?
There are three editions/versions of Vegas Pro available right now:
- Vegas Pro
- Vegas Pro Plus
- Vegas Pro Ultimate
Each tier builds on the core editing platform with additional visual effects plugins and professional audio tools.
Vegas Pro and Vegas Pro Plus are available as standalone "keep for life" versions or can also be licensed with a subscription.
Vegas Pro Ultimate is the only version that is licensed on a subscription plan only.

What happens to my old serial activation / license keys from MAGIX ?
Your existing license keys from older versions of Vegas software, are going to be imported into the Boris FX account system.
If you don't already have an existing Boris FX account, it is recommended you create a new Boris FX account using the same email address you used to buy a previous version of Vegas Pro. Your exsiting license details and information will hopefully appear in your new account auto-magically. Boris FX has reported that the process of porting over your exisiting license keys, may take several weeks to complete. If you don't see any license key information in your new account, do not worry! Be patient.
If your data does not appear, there is a back up plan. Boris FX support already has full access to the complete database of exiting accounts. This means they should be able to help you, if you provide the correct information to identify yourself.
What happened to the Vegas Creative Software Forum ?
The official forum for Vegas Pro and related products that was hosted at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/ has unfortunately been shut down. Any existing links to that forum will now automatically divert to the new Vegas Forum, located on the existing Boris FX Forums.
All the old posts from the retired forum are now non-functional. It is hoped that a read-only archive of the old forum can be set up and hosted somewhere on the new Boris FX Vegas Pro sub-forum. At this stage there is no guarantee this will happen. It's a tricky situation, because the old Vegas Pro forum was set up using a custom built forum code, created by Magix employees. Before the old forum was shut down, a big effort was made by the Moderators to archive the data. We hope that a decent amount can be accessed using the Wayback Machine Internet Archive here.

How do I login to the new Boris FX Vegas Pro forum ?
Your main Boris FX account for managing and buying software, does not have the ability to also login to the forum. To login and post questions on the new Vegas Pro forum, you will first have to create a new forum account.
The new Vegas Pro forum is already very active and contains a lot of useful information about the transition from Magix Software to Boris FX. At the top of the new forum you will find 8 different categories. Video Discussion is the core part the forum, where you can ask about problems using Vegas Pro and/or report things like bugs, etc...
