How to Render 720p & 1080p Video using Sony Vegas Pro 10

In this video tutorial I show you How to Create and Render a 720p or 1080p HD Video for YouTube or Vimeo, using Sony Vegas Pro 10.

I show two different meothods, one using Sony AVC H.264 .mp4 and the other with Windows Media Video .wmv

To get your 720p or 1080p HD Video looking fantastic there are two steps involved:

Firstly you have to set your Project Property Settings correctly. Many Video Cameras or DSLR Cameras all shoot with different settings - like different frame rates and whether it is Progressive or Interlaced Video. It is important to know where you want your finished product to be displayed, because this determines which settings you choose in the Project Properties.

Secondly you have to create a Rendering Template to match your Project Properties. Vegas gives you many great templates with which to work with, but a few settings may need to be tweaked to get the best look. Follow along with my video tutorial and you can't go wrong.

Hey Derek, I have so many questions. You said if I don't know what setting my video was recorded in to look underneath it and it will tell me. It does and it says 720x480x12. Does that mean I don't select HDV 720x30p but instead select NTSC DV24p? I'm so confused. I bought my Canon XA30 here in Qld Aust and it appears to be recording in an American file format. Is that normal?

  Your camera shoots 1920x1080 HD video, not 720x480 Standard Definition video.

  Please note that this tutorial is quite old now. I now recommend you use the default HIGH BIT RATE values to render with and do not lower them like I did in this tutorial. Back when I made this, a lot of people had very slow Internet speeds, so needed to keep their file sizes as small as possible.
