Zen Tip #15: How To Speed Up Your Rendering Times in Sony Vegas

To speed up rendering time, there is really straightforward advice.
Do not render at all.
How?

Use MKVMerge.
It can copy multiple mp4 files into one,without recompression.

It even merged files 60 and 80 FPS together, but don't know yet how YT will react on this.
Now I'm waiting to FHD option to appear after YT processing.

I think at least resolution suppose to be the same in all files.

And carefully with Windows DVR, because it can sometimes record in above than 60 FPS when the frames are not locked.

High Derek, I am back from Holiday and I have produced a holiday movie for my relations to take back to Europe. I have followed your advice in this tutorial, but the rendering speed is not as good as expected. I use the Sony AVC encoder to produce an MP4 1080 50P clip. I tried both the bottom two settings: Intel quick Sync Video (quality) and (speed), but get a message that these are not available. CUDO is however available. 60 minutes of video is taking 88 minutes to render - is this normal?
I thougtht that I have a decent fast system. These are the specs: Intel Core i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHZ
16.0 GB of Ram
AMD Radeon R9 200 series
Primary hard disk (C:) 238GB Solid State
Win 7, 64 bit

Am I missing something here?

Super job on this Tutorial Derek. I want to add just a brief footnote about "Rendering with GPU (graphics card)": I've had some sad experiences trying to use the GPU to render video projects (pull your hair out kind of stuff). It wasn't that it didn't work at all, but that the final product ended up with some strange artifacts at random places in the video. To be safe, I just leave the render option set for "CPU Only"! It may be slower, but much less chance of having to do re-renders. I think you alluded to this in this Tutorial, but I wanted to reinforce this with my 2 pence worth!
