Hi everyone

Somehow I missed this important news from a few days ago!

Magix has released new build versions for VEGAS Movie Studio 15 and VEGAS Movie Studio Platinum 15.
Free updates include many new features and bug fixes.
If you use an AMD Radeon graphics card, you now have access to "AMD VCE" GPU acceleration when rendering with Magix AVC.
I have to say this free update is a lovely surprise, because of all the new features that have been added to V15.

Here are the patch notes for this update:

VEGAS Movie Studio 15 Platinum - build version #146

New Features
  • Support has been added for hardware rending from qualifying AMD graphics cards to speed AVC/AAC and HEVC rendering considerably.
  • Added an option to disable hardware acceleration when creating custom presets in Intel HEVC Render plugin.
  • Added a preference that enables you to bypass QSV hardware acceleration and operate without this technology.
  • The user can now add an unlimited number of video and audio tracks.
  • The default freeze frame length is now dictated by the New still image length preference on the Editing tab of the Preferences dialog box.
  • A new AutoLooks plug-in lets the user instantly apply color adjustment presets to make their video look like famous movies, film genres, or distinctive styles.
  • A Tiny Planet OFX plug-in enables the user to create interesting effects such as making a video look like it's a tiny ball (or planet) or creating a "tiny sky" effect
  • Jumpstart Templates Vol. 2 give VMS Suite users even more creative starting templates to create professional-looking projects

  • Bug Fixes
  • Improved the efficiency of undo history when making changes to parameters of an OFX plug-in.
  • H.263 files are now properly supported on the timeline.
  • Docking window tab order no longer gets mixed up.
  • Pressing Enter in the Render dialog box now properly executes a render instead of opening render options.
  • Rending an image sequence to BMP and JPEG formats in 32-bit mode now yields the correct output.
  • Color levels are properly preserved when rendering a 32-bit project to XDCAM-EX format.
  • Resolved a conflict between QSV and 10-bit HEVC file renders on i7-770/i7-8700 systems.
  • Event header buttons no longer get clipped by the vertical scrollbar.
  • Memory management has been improved to enhance render performance for GPUs with less than 4GB memory on 4K 32 bit projects.
  • Right-clicking to open the context menu with several events selected, some of which are empty, no longer causes a crash.
  • MAGIX AVC/AAC plugin now shows the full set of encoding modes when the QSV global preference is disabled.
  • Regions from Sony A7s footage are now properly supported.
  • AVC/AAC files with four channels of audio are now properly read.
  • Render templates are now properly highlighted so the selected one can be more easily identified.
  • Tabbing now properly progresses through the Render As dialog box focus items.
