I put the below question on the Vegas forum, but have received no reply, was hoping Derek or someone else could give me some advice here.

I have DVD Architect Pro 7 and Vegas Pro 14 installed and am now trying to install DVD Architect Pro 6 so I can get the ac3 pro selection to work with the plugin change.

Every time I try to install DVD Architect 6 Pro (or version 5.2) it wants to download "Net Framework 3.5 SP1" which gets to the end of the download and then pops up a message that download was corrupt and won't go any further. I have tried right clicking the install file and run as admin. but no difference.

Which programs do you actually own and have installed on your computer in the past ?
I would like to know what order you have done things.
It is never a good idea to first install the newest version of a program and then try to install older versions, because it can lead to problems. Normally the older versions would naturally be installed first and followed by newer versions. I can only guess that if this is what you have done, it may have caused some kind of conflict.

I have Vegas Pro 13 and Vegas Pro 14 installed on same computer.
I also have DVD Architect Pro 6 and DVD Architect Pro 7 installed, with no problems.
I own both versions and installed VP13 and DVDA 6 first, before installing VP14 and DVDA 7.

In the past when I have experienced installation problems with Sony programs, the best solution was always to perform a Clean Install of everything and to install programs in a logical order - oldest first. A clean install, also means that you first need to do deep removal of all your Sony and Magix programs.

I have instructions on how to do that here:
www.moviestudiozen.com/doctor-zen-faq/570-clean-install-sony-vegas-windows-10

I have read some of the solutions people posted, for getting AC-3 Pro working in DVDA Pro 7.
Personally I have not tried to do this, because I wasn't in the mood for screwing my programs up - something I am very good at doing.

Regards
Derek

Hi Derek, I had installed Vegas Pro 14 first and then tried installing DVD Architect 6. Rather than doing a clean install, I think I will just leave it alone and use the version of ac3 included with DVD Architect 7 (not sure what difference it will make to crating DVD or Bluray)
I own Vegas Pro from version 9 and all versions after.

thanks for the advice Derek,
David

AC3-Pro allows you to customize the AC3 encoding settings. There's still an article about that in the Sony Creative Software Knowledgebase.

www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2716

Note that if your audio source is PCM you could encode to that (*.wav / *.w64) unless you want to save space (if PCM options are still available).
If you try going back, remember that DVD A Pro 5.2 was generally preferred to v.6.0. If you want AC3-Pro, you need a combination of VPro 13 and DVD A Pro 5.2 (or 6.0) or the workaround the good Doc mentions (for 7). I'd do what he suggests, i.e. clean install in a logical order and maybe even forget about DVD A 7. Btw., does it still have the "Pro" in its title?

Hi Davoid,

I concur with vkmast on following the Good Doc's advice.

However, if you "really" must install .net framework 3.5, you can do a search on Google for it, such as I did: "microsoft .net framework 3.5 standalone installer".

I prefer not to put links on the Doc's forum site due to security concerns, and since I am not one of his moderators, abide by his Terms for accessing his site. I just did a quick search using the above, and there are plenty of sites that will come up; the first one actually was at Microsoft's site, which you need to make sure the web page takes you for the download. There was also listed a Youtube video for installing this version if you had Windows 10, 8.1/8, 7, etc.

I've also just finished rebuilding both of my computers, and on this one that I am currently typing from, I have Movie Studio Platinum Suite 13, and Vegas Pro 14 installed, with installation of Movie Studio first, the Vegas Pro (I've opted not to install Vegas Pro 12 or 13 again).

Good Luck,
