Having problems burning Blu ray discs, using Verbatim BD-R (43712) discs. From the same box I successfuly burned 3 Discs but when attempting the fourth one I get a message saying "Speed Unknown; Unknown Media Type: Disc Status Unsupported". The burner is working ok as I burnt some photos onto a DVD no problem using Windows. BUT I also created a DVD copy of my video in Movie Studio and DVD Architect and got the same messages when I inserted a DVD. Is it somthing wrong in the project settings or just a lousy set of disks though if the latter it would be a massive coincidence if both Blu Ray disks and DVDs were both faulty.

Hi Dave, it has been a while (actually long while) since I have burned a DVD or Bluray, but I always had better success if I switched the burn rate to about half of what the burner/disc was spec'ed for. In your case that would be about 8x. Have you tried to burn one at maybe 4-6x? And have you double checked all your settings, I'm sure you have.
Best Regards......George

Just a long shot. In your Vegas DVD Architect (if that's what you have) go to Options > Preferences> Burning> Advanced and toggle the "Use legacy disc drivers" setting. If that works, do what Eagle Six suggests, do not burn at max 6x.

Geaorge many thanks for the prompt reply. Since posting the question I have tried a video that I did burn successfully , no joy I am afraid same problem. Also does't allow me the option of changing the burn speed. Not sure if you can read the attachment, used the snipping tool to produce it.

I'm placing my money on vkmast's suggestion as the solution that worked.
"Use legacy disc drivers" setting seems to be the winner most times, but we'll wait for a report back.
