I have windows 11 with 8 core AMD Ryzen 7 and Nvidia G force 4060 graphics.
2 months ago I burned a Blu ray disc with no problem.  However today having prepared a new project, I am unable to burn same to disc,  I get the message "You are currently logged on to this computer without System Administrative privileges".  The next screen is greyed out so cannot continue..
I have checked on Google for advice and found the following:
Press windows key, type cmd.  Right click on Command prompt and select "Run as administrator". Type "net user administrator /active:yes"..  I reiceved message "Operation successful"  I rebooted laptop but the problem remains.
Please can someone advise.
Brian

Additional.

Cannot burn DVD either.  But, resorting to my previous laptop with windows 10, the message about not having system privileges still come up I am able to burn a disc. Assuming I can copy my files from my windows 11 laptop to the old laptop.

I have checked my status on this new machine and I have full permissions.
So what is wrong? Is it windows updates?

Hi Brian
A little bit late responding and you may have already sorted things out.

The change from two months previously was most likely a result of security updates to either Windows or anti-virus software.  Flying on memory here, but the command “net user administrator /active:yes” turns on the master Windows Administrator account which acts as a completely separate profile to your usual personal login account profile (ie essentially a new login account).  Your personal login account’s profile would not have been updated. Try the following:
  •         Start windows and login as usual.
  •          Right click on the DVD Architect.
  •       For a “one-time fix” (ie would default back next time you want to run DVDA) select “Run as Administrator” and then click “yes” when asked for permission to make the change.  Alternatively, for a permanent change select “properties” and click on the “compatibility” tab at the top of the Properties box, check the box next to “Run this program as an administrator” and then click “Apply” and then “OK”.
Burning disks from DVDA has been known to be problematic for some users over many years. Personally I have DVDA prepare nd save the files to a folder and then burn the disk with a dedicated burning program such as the free ImgBurn.

Cheers, Robbie

Hi Robbie, Thanks for your reply to my problem.  As you guessed, I have now sorted things.  It turned out to be a dodgy connection from the laptop to the external BluRay/DVD burner/player.  My old laptop had the burner within the machine.  My new one did not and so I had to purchase a separate one and this was the only the second time I had used it. Being an external drive, I don't keep it connected.  Eventually as a last resort I changed the connecting lead and lo and behold- success! I was beginning to despair.

I thought I might have heard from Derek, is he OK?

Glad you got it sorted out.  External devices can certainly add another layer of complexity to system operations.

I don't have a lot of direct contact with Derek - the last time being mid April this year.  He didn't indicate any issues at that time.

Thanks Robbie.  I only enquired as Derek is usually the first to come up with a suggestion.
Best
