Color Correction was created by Jimbo72

I've poked around on your YouTube page and a bit on your website, and was hoping to learn more about color correction. When is it appropriate to use it? How to use it correctly? etc etc. While looking for informational tutorials on various topics I've run across a lot of videos by gamers editing game play. And it seems they always use color correction. I don't record any game play action. Most of my videos are of me doing stupid box-openings and reviews or horsing around or whatever. Does someone like me need color correction? Would I benefit from it?

Thanks for the help!

I am actually working on a Colour Correction 101 Tutorial at this very moment !
It is an in-depth tutorial, so I am taking my time to get it right.
I know it will be popular once it is uploaded, so I want to make sure the information is dead accurate before uploading.

Colour Correction in truth, should be used for all your projects.
Once you apply correction, you suddenly realized just how bad most raw video is direct from the camera.

Stay tuned :cheer:

I will look forward to this topic as well. I hope you get into the color scopes and can teach us to recognize when we are getting out of bounds.

As another topic, I'm hoping you would suggest ideas on how to improve footage shot in less than optimal lighting or old restoration projects with very grainy film. Video noise reduction w/o sacrificing sharpness in important areas. Perhaps using feathered masks on faces with noise reduction FX applied elsewhere.

Thanks, Kitt B)

I agree. I work with this stuff all the time but don't always understand fully what I'm doing. Watched many tuts on the subject but most of them don't seem to be truly informed. One plug I don't really get is "Broadcast Colors". Would like to see other color plugs touched on... Great topic!

Often when I am trying to correct something specific and I reach out to 'those that know', I'm told that levels are wrong, using illegal values ... so be good to have a correction tutorial.

Great - this subject seems to have a bit of a 'buzz' to it presently. I'm looking to get a Panasonic GH4 camera which can record in 'flat' colours and can't wait to look at your forthcoming tutorial and learn how to really add some zip to the colour gradation.

I have just published a new tutorial about How to Use the Colour Correction Tools in Sony Vegas Pro.
Movie Studio Platinum users should read and watch this tutorial as well.
This is an introductory tutorial where I cover all the core basics and explain all the common terms used in Colour Correction.

I hope you get some benefit from it.
