I want to reduce the length of a video track without affecting the length of the associated audio track. I have not found any means of removing a link between the two. Whatever I do to trim the video track also occurs on the audio track.

Hi IPW

I have moved your question into the Vegas Movie Studio sub-forum.

You can use a Keyboard shortcut to Un-Group the audio from video.
Press on top of audio or video track for your video and then press U for Un-Group.
You can also right-click on any video and go to Group - here you will find many options for grouping and un-grouping.

To re-group anything on the timeline, hold the Shift key down and select the video and audio tracks.
Then press G for Group.

Regards
Derek

Thank you - It works - I had seen the group heading appear, but the sub menu wording was confusing. I tried reading the manuel and got nowhere. I didn't want to loose what I had already done so didn't play around. Like a lot of people you get stuck into the process and forget to do regular backups of the project. As you say at least once a week switch off and enjoy the peace.!! Thank You again
