How to identify which clip is in the timeline? was created by JonnyD

Another newbie question: how can I determine which clip from my media window is in my timeline? When I move the playback head over different clips in the timeline, I do not see anything anywhere that tells me which clip I'm using.

Isn't there a white rectangle upper left corner of each clip that says the name of the media. It does in Version 13.

Go to View in the top menu - then turn ON Active Take Information.
The file name for all your media files will now display on the timeline.

Hi quick question, is this feature disabled in the trial version of Movie Studio 13? Under my view menu all I see is an empty "Extensions" submenu :( I'm very close to replacing Videopad Editor with Movie Studio 13, but believe it or not, lack on clip name in the timeline would be a deal breaker for me. Any help would be appreciated.

DON'T get Movie Studio 13 ! This is only very basic and has no customization ability.
The version you should be using is Movie Studio Platinum 13.

Go to View in the top menu - then turn ON Active Take Information.
The file name for all your media files will now display on the timeline.
ℹ️ Remember to turn everything off at least once a week, including your brain, then sit somewhere quiet and just chill out.
