I am using Movie Studio 12 which came with New Blue Titler express. I am learning the basics and like what I see but it tends to lock up Studio routinely. Has anyone been experiencing this problem. Any solutions to the problem would be appreciated.

Could it have anything to do with video driver?

Hi Dash
Welcome to the MSZ Forum.

What are your computer specifications ?
CPU ?
RAM ?
Graphics Card model ?
Do you know what Graphics Driver version you have installed ?

Do you have your Graphics Card turned ON in the Movie Studio Preferences ?
Go to Options - Preferences - Video tab
Check GPU Acceleration of video processing - select your card if it is OFF.

The New Blue Titler requires a decent Graphics Card to work properly. If it is locking up, it may be because your Graphics Card is under powered or the Driver may need updating ?

Try an experiment.
Open a new project and work ONLY with the Titler.
Do all your work here and remember to do regular saves. Once it is finished, you can open a 2nd instance of Movie Studio and Copy & Paste your NB Titles from one project into the other.

Regards
Derek :)

Hi Derek,
I checked for a driver update but they said it was up to date.

Here are my computer specs...
Intel i7-4770K CPU @3.50GHz
RAM 8 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 Version 335.23

Is this going to be enough computer to run the Movie Studio software and most other plugins?. Studio seems to run OK except for the Titler up til now. What about down the road? I have not really done much with the plugins. Do I need to upgrade my computer?

I will try the your second suggestion about running just the Titler as soon as I get the chance. A bit busy just now. Oh, and the acceleration was turned off so I turned it on. Maybe that will make a difference.

Thanks.

Your have a very powerful CPU and 8GBs of RAM is a good minimum amount for Video Editing.
Your Graphics Card is not going to win any races because it is only an entry level card, however it should be enough for you to at least use the New Blue Titler - which is what you are reporting. Upgrading to a more powerful Graphics Card is something you could do in the future. Please note the the new AMD R9 series Graphics Cards now work best for Sony software applications.

The Titler EX that comes with Movie Studio Platinum Suite is only the basic entry level version of this program. I have used it myself many times before I upgraded to the Titler Pro. Sometimes it would freeze if I was trying to do something complex. I learnt to do regular saves and re-booting my computer before I used it can often help. Make sure you do not have other programs running while using Movie Studio.

Personally, I do exactly what I am telling you.
When I want to create something detailed with the New Blue Titler, I always work on it by itself in a new project.
Make sure you do not set the Frame Rate in your Project Properties too high. A maximum of 30fps is probably a safer option since your Graphics Card is not that powerful.

All the best. :)

Thanks so much, Derek!
I did what you suggested and worked with the Titler by itself and no problems. It's great to have someone like yourself help us when we're struggling. Can't tell you how much you are appreciated.

All the best!
