MSPlatinum12 not opening - after a long time unused was created by doobre

Recently had to open an old project, and the program will not open, 
message says MS has stopped working.
uninstalled and reinstalled, registered serial again.. same problem.
downloaded again from MAGIX, repeated above same problem.
Clicked the link from sony for update (posted April 11, 2013) - but that was '404'

it is version "moviestudiope12.0.896" same as that on my installation CD.
Help!! anyone able to assist.?

Let me answer my own question..
A search found that if QuickTime is installed, it will screw up MSP12..
