OK ... MSP technically doesn't import .m2v files. But I have managed to put a timeline together with .m2v files that were rendered from Vegas into a folder and then dragging and dropping them onto a MSP 13 timeline. I bring in the corresponding .mpa file and match them up and all is perfect. But now, for some reason, it has stopped doing that. The timeline is at 01:35:00 and I can import the .mpa media no problem but the .m2v files will no longer drag onto the timeline.

Any ideas ?

Hi Tim

Movie Studio Platinum 13 outputs .m2v video files when you render video for Blu-ray, using one of the MPEG2 templates.
I have never had a problem importing .m2v Video files, however it is not something I would normally do.

I really don't know what would be going on here.
My guess is that it may be a memory issue ?

Go to Options/Preferences/Video tab
Make sure Dynamic RAM Preview is only set to 200MB - if you have this set really high, you will not have enough memory to run the program properly.

It might also be a good idea to clean the Movie Studio cache and reset the program.
Sometimes just doing this will fix odd problems.
Do this:
Turn Movie Studio Off.
Hold down CONTROL and SHIFT keys at the same time AND ALSO AT THE SAME TIME double click program icon on Desktop to Boot program.
Window will pop up.
Select Delete Cache and Yes.
This will restore program to Factory Default Settings.

If you still have problems after this, my suggestion is that you break the project into large chunks and render them out first into new videos. Then import the rendered sections into a Master Project. In Vegas Pro I would normally render to .MXF format, however that is not available in MSP13. Luckily MSP13 now includes Sony XAVC S as an output option, which is a High Bit Rate/ High Quality format.

You will have to render "Make Movie" using Advanced Options.
Select Sony XAVC S - HD 1080 Long GOP
Render your project into sections and then add them back into one Master Project.

Regards
Derek.
