Nothing is free when it comes to transitions.
There are three main providers I know of that which make good transitions, that will work in both Sony Movie Studio and Vegas Pro.
New Blue FX has always been the leader in this department, however their plugins are very expensive. The best time to buy New Blue FX is when they have sales on. Make sure to subscribe to their newsletter.

Another company called Pixelan, makes very affordable transitions. Their 3D 6 pack is very afforable.

ProDad Adorage makes affordable FX and Transitions as well.

The most important thing to remember about all of these, is that you can download free trials first and test things out to see what you like.
