Solved Extraction of Hi Res Photo from Panasonic 4K Photo mode video.
Extraction of Hi Res Photo from Panasonic 4K Photo mode video. was created by cbdPhil
Posted 05 Feb 2017 15:35 #1 Many Panasonic cameras now have '4K Photo' mode – a 25 or 30fps video mode that allows extraction of any frame as an 8MB photo. The new GH5 will have a 6K mode which will be 18MB photo. This is easy 'in camera' but a 'frame grab' in Vegas Pro 13 gives a 2MB image. How do you get the full 8MB image from the timeline in Vegas?

To create the maximum size and quality snapshot with Vegas Pro, you must set the Preview Window = Best (Full).
I also recommend that you save the snapshot as a .png file and not .jpeg
When I use those settings in Vegas Pro, I get a 5 MB file size at 4K frame resolution of 3840x2160
Regards
Derek

Just curious is all, but why *.png over *.jpg ?
Thanks for the tip about the quality setting for the preview window. I didn't realize that.

.png generally produces a much sharper image - especially if the snapshot contains any Text media.
.jpg may show compression artefacts around geometric shapes/patterns - example bricks in wall, leaves in trees, wire fence, edge of text.
