Solved Vegas and .mkv files

Another day, another questions. Helping friend with a video project, and the source file is .mkv. I notice that Vegas Pro doesn't like these files. I tried converting .mkv to mp4 using VLC Player, but Vegas rejected that file as well. Any thoughts on getting .mkv files into Vegas?

I recommend using Handbrake for converting .mkv to .mp4
handbrake.fr/

Make sure to set Frame Rate = Constant
ℹī¸ Remember to turn everything off at least once a week, including your brain, then sit somewhere quiet and just chill out.
