I want to split the screen 3 ways but with a slant like the attachments.
Would appreciate any suggestion.

I don't have time to write detailed instructions for you.
However, there are many different ways to achieve this effect.
Obviously you need to build up many layers like playing cards sitting on top of each other.
Remember you can add things like Solid Colour from the Media Generators window, to create borders/black lines.

I recommend you read/watch this tutorial, for a refresher on how to use Event Pan/Crop and Track Motion combinations.
www.moviestudiozen.com/free-tutorials/sony-vegas-pro/546-multi-screen-video-fx-sony-vegas-pro

To create angles in Vegas Pro, you can turn on the Masking Tool in the Event Pan/Crop window and add a mask.

Thanks for introducing me to the masking tool.

I am intrigued by the red circles and arrows you superimposed on the screen shot. Are they drawn with Vegas Pro, or another third-party software?

If so, what software?

The program I use to create screen shots and add stuff like arrows, is called Snagit by Techsmith.
This is the same software company that makes Camtasia.
www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.html

The program is inexpensive to buy and full of tonnes of features.
It comes in 2x parts:
1. Capture app
2. Editor app - after you take a screen capture, it opens in the Editor and here you can slice/dice and add overlays, then save as a new image file.

I have this software but have never paid any attention to its Editor.

I saw yesterday all the wonderful things it can do. "Styles" is a strange name?

Thanks.

Thanks for introducing me to the masking tool.

I tried to use masks to create a three-way slanting screen split using 3 image tracks, but could not align the slant of the middle mask with the right-hand side of left mask, or the left-hand side of the right mask to the right-hand side of the middle mask.

That means I could not leave uniform black borders separating the 3 images.

I thought I could manually enter the x/y position points of the adjacent masks, but the numerical positions do not make any sense to me.

Any suggestions?

This is quite a complicated process to get this to work.

Which version of Vegas Pro are you using ?

I will make a test project for you, so you can inspect my settings and duplicate on your computer.

I am very busy at the moment and don't have time to write lengthy instructions.
Instead, I have uploaded a text project with all the settings you are looking for.

File Attachment:

File Name: multi-scre...nted.veg
File Size:32 KB

In the screen shots below, I have placed arrows on the settings you need to open up and inspect.
Please note that in the Event Pan/Crop window, you need to check and switch between the Position key-frame track and Mask key-frame track.
