How to have different levels each audio track. was created by Woggle

Posted 16 Jun 2021 14:17 #1
I recorded a conference last week with a low audio level on the feed I was given so I put it on input 1 and the mic on top input 2. I want to reduce the gain on channel 2 and increase it on channel 1.
i am using Vegas Pro 17.
Is it possible to split the audio channels?
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve

You can't split the channels on Import, but you can do this:
1. Insert a New Audio Track on the Timeline and place it below existing Audio Track.

2. If the Audio event is only an audio file with no video attached, import the same Audio file and place it on the new audio track.

3. If the Audio you want to split is part of a Video file, import a 2nd time using this trick.
Right-click on video and drag to new audio track (keeping right mouse button depressed).
Now let go to mouse button and select Audio only - Add Audio Across Time.

4. Now right-click original Audio Track and go to Channels - Left only
Name track Left only (Input 1)

5. Right-click 2nd new audio track (duplicate) and go to Channel - Right only
Name track Right only (Input 2)

6. Your tracks are now completely separate!

Thanks, I rang a friend who was doing some editing in Vegas, we tried several things and found that duplicating the audio track below and then choosing left channel on one and the right channel on the other you can change the levels.
