Hi Ian

There are a couple of different things that could be the cause of this problem.
Use a process of elimination to find which solution works.

1. Check that your Windows 10 Display Scaling is set to 100%
Press Windows Start button and select Settings cog.
Select System/Display
Scroll down and make sure Scale and Layout = 100% (Recommended)

2. Right-click your Windows Desktop and select Nvidia Control Panel
Select Display/Change Resolution
Make sure it is set to the Native resolution for your monitor.

3. Open Vegas Pro and go to Options/Preferences/Display
Scroll to bottom
Make sure DPI scaling is turned on if you are using a monitor that is higher than 1920x1080  resolution, like a 4K monitor.

4. If MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24 is missing in your Windows Registry, it will cause the older FX windows in Vegas to not display correctly.
To find if this is missing from your computer, type "RegEdit" in Windows search box and select Registry Editor.
Go to this location:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
You need to make sure all three of these fonts are installed:
“MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24″=”SSERIFE.FON”
“MS Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24″=”SERIFE.FON”
“Courier 10,12,15″=”COURE.FON”

Let me know if any of these are missing.

5. If none of the above options help, I recommend you read this FAQ article:

Derek

Hi Ian
Thank you very much for your generous donation
It is humbly appreciated and helps to keep the forum and site running.

As soon as I read your first message, I remembered from a long time ago, someone else with the same problem.
Bizarrely I had also experienced the exact same problem at the same time in the past!
Originally it took a long time to find the solution, because no one knew what caused it, but eventually I discovered the solution by expanding my search to other non-Vegas software programs and then I found a reference on one of the large Microsoft forums.

Long story short, one of the BIG Windows 10 updates from the past, seems to be the cause of this weird problem.
I'm really happy that I was able to remember how to fix it, but it did take me a few hours of thinking before the light turned on.

Cheers
Derek

p.s.
I know the Central Coast really well, because half of my ancestors lived at Terrigal, Lisarow and Gosford.
I live in Griffith now, but would love to move to the hinterland one day and live in a shack!
