Solved MOV file has 0.19 second delay in audio behind video
MOV file has 0.19 second delay in audio behind video was created by Woggle
Posted 29 Nov 2021 10:03 #1 I have an MOV file of person singing, it play in sync on VLC, but in Vegas Pro 19 it has a 0.19 second delay in the audio.
I got this figure by putting it on the timeline above and muting the audio of the second one and the video of the first one and moving the first one until the audio and video are synced.
Is it possible to put a delay on the audio track?
Thanks in advance,
Woggle

It sounds like you are using a video that came from a mobile phone.
Mobile Phones like Apple iPhone, record using a Variable Frame Rate.
Video Editing programs only work properly with Constant Frame Rate videos.
When you place a variable frame rate video into a Video Editing program like Vegas that works best with Constant Frame Rate, it can become glitchy and go out of sync.
I recommend you convert any videos that came from a phone, using a program called Handbrake.
Watch this tutorial from 6:38, for how to use Handbrake to convert phone video.
I have an in-depth tutorial for how to use Handbrake here:
www.moviestudiozen.com/free-tutorials/miscellaneous-help-tutorials/595-handbrake-v1-1-1-beginners-guide-for-best-video-export-settings
To fix your existing .mov video file, you can un-group the video and audio components and shift them apart slightly.
Press on top of video on timeline, then press U for ungroup.
Now you can drag audio file to left or right.
I recommend zooming right down to the frame by frame level (use mouse wheel), so you can shift by small increments until it is synced correctly.
Regards
Derek
