Solved Voukoder compatability With Vegas Pro 19
Hi,
I recently installed Voukoder to my Vegas Pro 16 app. and really loved the results I got with the render process. After much thinking, I finally decided to purchase Vegas Pro 19 this Sunday. After a few trials, I was happy to find that I could work with previous versions of Vegas with this recent acquisition. I erased Version 16 and maintained on my desktop just this single version 19 of Vegas. I took care to be sure that there were no traces of Voukoder and its connector and reinstalled it so that it would part of the render options within Vegas Pro 19.
For some weird reason, it is nowhere to be found...can someone tell me if there is a compatability issue between Voukoder and Vegas Pro 19?
Also, within the many changes to this version, I notice that there is now a slider for the Ram in the video display. I never used that option in the past and I now wonder if Magix did apply corrections tio this option with the objective of getting more flexibility in the render process together with the use of the grapghics card?
Thank you.

You possibly haven't installed Voukoder correctly. I understand there are two installation files involved. Search this forum and check DrZen's tutorials as he may have done one on using Voucoder.

Posted 16 Feb 2022 22:59 #3 Hi Michel,
As @ericlnz has said, there are "Two" separate files for Voukoder to use for VEGAS Pro. One is the actual "App" for use with all versions (12-19), then there is the "Connector" which is only applicable to specific versions.
Here is the Link to the site for downloading. Go to the main page for the brief Install guide.
I use Voukoder on two separate computers: one with only VEGAS Pro 18, the other with both VEGAS Pro 18/19.
Oh, and before running, BACK-UP YOUR FILES! (Sorry, force of Habit). After running the Plug-in and Connector Apps, I also recommend "Re-Booting" your computer first.

Adding my 2 cents worth...
Different versions of Vegas Pro
When upgrading from an older version of Vegas Pro to a newer version, I would never delete the older version of Vegas Pro immediately.
Keep the older version installed for 12 months until you know everything is working OK with the newer version.
This is mainly for when you are opening older projects saved with older versions of Vegas Pro.
It's perfectly OK to have 2x versions installed on the same computer.
Sometimes projects made with older versions may not open properly in the newer version. If this ever happened, you can open the OLD project with the OLDER version of Vegas Pro and inspect it and/or edit it.
Of cause it is OK to uninstall EVERYTHING and only use the new version, if that's what you want to do.
Voukoder
As Mike has already said, there are different versions of Voukoder available and it's in 2x parts.
www.voukoder.org/forum/thread/783-downloads-instructions/
The current Voukoder app is version 10.2
There are different versions of the Connector, depending on which version of Vegas Pro you are using!
Vegas Pro 16 needed the VEGAS Pro 12-17 connector version 1.5.0
Vegas Pro 19 needs the VEGAS Pro 18-19 connector version 1.2.0
I have many different versions of Vegas Pro installed on the same computer and Voukoder is working OK with all of them.
Dynamic RAM Preview
Dynamic RAM Preview has nothing to do with rendering video and your Graphics Card.
For most people, it's best to just leave it at the default value.
Setting this value TOO HIGH, will actually have a negative impact on rendering video, because it is taking away amount of available RAM for rendering video using the Render As window.
If you have a LARGE AMOUNT or RAM installed (32 GBs or more), it will be OK to increase the value of this slider.
However, if you don't have much RAM installed, you need to be very careful with this setting !!!
Dynamic RAM Preview is a setting for rendering High Quality temporary video on the timeline while editing.
It is especially useful when you have a lot of Video FX and/or Transitions added to "sections" of your project, and you would like to PREVIEW sections at full quality with ZERO video lag.
What you would typically do is drag out a small "loop region" (10 to 20 seconds of the project - all depends on how much RAM you have installed).
A loop region looks like this:
Once you have selected the region you want to Preview at MAXIMUM quality, press Shift + B
Vegas will then render UNCOMPRESSED video and save it inside your RAM.
If the Dynamic RAM Preview max was set very low, you will find that not all of your Loop Region will get rendered, because you ran out of RAM.
When this happens, you need to increase the Dynamic RAM amount available to use.
Drag a loop region again, then press Shift + B.
Now press PLAY and the video with heavy Video FX layers will play smoothly in the Preview Window.

Hi,
Thanks to Eric, Mike and you Derek. There was in fact a Connector for version 18-19 and I was using the version for 16-17. Voukoder is now properly set in VP 19.
You got me with the slider Derek. First of all, I find it a good idea to maintain ''alive'' my version of Vegas 16. I had deleted it to see if I could install Voukoder on VP19 without any interference of my previous version but since there is a different connector for each version, I'm pretty sure that there shoudn't be any installation issue.
Going back to the slider, I was sure that the slider was to give better flexibility to the rendering process. Thanks for getting me back to earth on that subject Derek. Really anxious to start a new project with VP 19. I have a two hour family project in front of me...a lot of fun in perspective.
Have a nice day guys and thanks again for your pertinent interventions.
