Pocket Video Camera was created by BobH

Hi all,
I have a Panasonic 4K video camera for my main work when on a project. However, when out and about, I would like a small pocket size camera to use if a see anything interesting. I know I could use my iPhone but I don't find this particularly suitable, so any suggestions out there at a reasonable cost that might serve the purpose.
Thanks

Hi Bob
Because you are in the UK, I've made all the links UK compatible.

The normal recommendations would be either a GoPro Hero, DJI Osmo Action Camera or Insta 360 camera.
The market for pocket cameras is HUGE now!

DJI cameras
If I was to pick one interesting camera, it would be the DJI Osmo Pocket camera.
I see a lot of young YouTubers using this type of camera, because it's very tiny and easy to hold and not as noticeable when in public.
The image quality is excellent!!
It has handy controls where you can press a button and it shifts from front facing to backwards facing, making it great for walking along and doing travel style videos.

Another thing you may not have considered is buying a hand held gimbal device for your iPhone.
This makes holding the phone easier when you want to shoot a lot of video!
There are many brands, but here are the DJI offerings:

Insta 360 cameras
This has become another popular brand for small video cameras

Microphone options...
One thing a lot of people forget, is audio quality with all these tiny cameras, especially when outside on a windy day.
Rode microphones from Australia makes something for every option now.

The Rode Micro Pro (most basic) plugs into your iPhone and you get 2 mics. Also comes with windshield.

If you do the "3 claps" trick, you can record audio with your phone/mic and sync with video on pocket camera in Vegas Pro, when you do your edits.

Rode Wireless Micro Camera Kit
More advanced version of Micro Pro, that will work with a tradtional video camera, as well as iPhone.
