Q: Can I keep older versions of Vegas Movie Studio installed on my computer when I upgrade to a newer version?

Answer: Yes you can keep older versions of Vegas installed on your computer.

I personally have Versions 9 to 12 all installed mainly for training purposes, because I still get questions from people using the older versions.

New Blue Fx and Production Suite Users

Older NewBlue Fx will Automatically appear in V12 of Movie Studio Platinum Suite.
However, remember that they will only show up in the 32bit version of Movie Studio, now that V12 comes in a 64bit version as well.

There is one program that you must un-install if you have it.
If you have "Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 Production Suite" installed
AND
You installed the NewBlue Titler that came with V11 Production Suite,
then please un-install old version of NB Titler first.

Because if you install the updated version from the V12 Suite and the updated NB Titler, it may cause chaos.

In Windows Control Panel – Programs and Features – the OLD Titler ends with MSPPS – V1.0
New version is V2.0

My Sony Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 now refuses to render more than the last 6 secs on my project. AGH!!! Is there any way to render the whole video? Or do I have to start again?

Is there an upgrade and is it possible to load the current project into a new upgrade? Thank you.

  It sounds like you have accidentally created a "Loop Region" which is rendering only a section of your timeline.
  Read this FAQ for solution:

  If that does not work, I recommend you perform a Full Program RESET.

  Yes you can upgrade to the latest version 17 !!!
  In the top right corner of this page is a LINK to all Upgrades.
  Please note though, that your project made with v10 may not load properly in v17, because the Video FX have changed dramatically in how they work.
  I recommend you download the free trial first and test before you buy.

My Surface Pro is on Windows 10 but I suspect the prior version, Surface Pro 4, was on Windows 10 as well.

I own the original Vegas Movie Studio Platinum. It loaded on my Surface Pro 4 but wont load on my newer surface pro 5. Is there a reason why?

  Which exact version of the program do you own ?
  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 12, 14, or 15 ?

  The system tries to load the following apps to continue installation:
  Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 SP1
  Microsoft .NET framework 2.0
  
  Then it fails with the following message:
  Red "X" next to the message "download was corrupted"
  
  Any ideas if this is passable?

  I found the solution! I simply searched for Microsoft .NET 3.5 and downloaded the service pack and ran it. Then the installation of Movie Studio worked!

Vegas movie studio 15 Platinum won`t innstall. I purchaced and downloaded it from Magix. Seems to be no support there...
I have innstalled version 11 from before, and I`m afraid to uninstall it because if 15 still won`t work, I no longer have the innstaller for the 11 version. I also have the NewBlue Fx innstalled.
I have read the system requirements, and my computer meets all of them.
Any suggestions?

  I was talking to another user on the Movie Studio Forum about a different Vegas problem.
  He said something which I thought might apply to your situation.
  Are you using Windows 10 ?
  If you are using Windows 10, that may the real reason why you cannot install Vegas.
