Hi!

Jump in at 0:56 in this video. You will see how they zoom in his face in a way that I have tried to find how they do. I understand that they have zoomed with the camera of course, but is there a way in sony vegas pro to make it with this kind of "suggestive" effect?

Hi Helena

I don't know for sure how the Pros do this effect.

This is how I think they do it:
Step one would be to deliberately film a "long and slow" Zoom In to the person's face. This could be done just with the cameras zoom controls and/or a combination of physically moving the camera closer to subject. The important thing would be to make sure it lasts for quite a few seconds - maybe 30 to 60 seconds.

Step two involves using the Velocity Envelope Tool in Sony Vegas Pro.
I have shown briefly how to use this, in this tutorial.
I think I showed this towards the end.
How to Slow Down GoPro and High Frame Rate Video with Sony Vegas Pro and Movie Studio

So once you have the Velocity Envelope Tool activated on the timeline, then you need to add lots of keyframes.
This is going to speed up the video very quickly and then slow it down very quickly.
If you right-click on a Velocity Keyframe, you can tell it how to behave, which will create a faster/slower/smoother speed curve.

Maybe something like this

This topic would be a great idea for a tutorial.
I have added to my future tutorial list.

Regards
Derek.

Thank Derek!,this i will look at. Here is another film. Jump in to 2.38 and you se how they zoom in the car fast and then slow it down. Must be the same method. Think it would be really interesting to understand and manage this kind of scenes. Great if you further on can teach us.

The first vid looks like a camera zoom as the background gets fuzzy. I suspect it took some practice to get it right.
