How can I add Text that is boxed in, like for example white text on black background or vice versa placed on the lower third of the video screen?

Hi Gerry
Probably a few ways to do that.
The good Doctor made a video a while back on creating lower thirds in an older version of MSP here that might provide some guidance.
If you are using MSP15 you could use the PIP track. resize as desired, then set colour and text from the "Text and Graphics" from the Quick Start panel.
cheers, Robbie

My original tutorial on this topic is quite basic.
I am planning to make a better tutorial on this topic soon.
Basically:
1. Go to Media Generators and drag a Solid Colour onto a new video track.
2. Use the Track Motion window (located in video track control box) to re-size the colour shape to small rectangle.
You will need to turn OFF a couple of the Controls in Track Motion window, so you can "free form" re-size your colour block.
Do not use Event Pan/Crop for re-sizing coloured boxes!
3. Once you have your colour block resized, add a new Text Track above the solid colour track.

âšī¸ Remember to turn everything off at least once a week, including your brain, then sit somewhere quiet and just chill out.
