Vegas pro project to vegas movie studio 14??? was created by MoonSimmeryt

Hello ! So i just bought the Vegas Movie Studio 14 suite on amazon and i am expecting that to arrive tomorrow or Wednesday. However I couldn’t wait to edit my first video for my channel and so I downloaded the Vegas Pro free trial. I didn’t know or was even warned that i can only render 2 minutes of the video when i had already made the video 5 minutes long. I saved it as a .veg project file just in case of anything. I was wondering if i could open the project file on the Vegas movie studio 14 when it arrives and render it and upload it from there? If not what do you suggest i do?

Hello MoonSimmeryt and welcome to the MSZ Forum

You cannot open Vegas Pro .veg project files in Vegas Movie Studio.
You can open Vegas Movie Studio .vf project files in Vegas Pro.

There is also another restriction to be aware of:
If you make a project with Vegas Movie Studio or Vegas Pro, you cannot open projects made with newer versions of Vegas in older versions of Vegas.
You can open Vegas projects made with older versions, in newer versions - just not the other way around.
Example 1: Save a project with Vegas Pro 16 - this cannot be opened with VP15 or older.
Example 2: Save a project with Vegas Pro 14 - this can be opened with VP15 or VP16.

Regards
Derek

You will have to create your project all over again when you get VMS14.

On a different topic, make sure to check the Build Versions of your software after you install it.
When you buy boxed versions of software, the programs inside are probably going to be out of date.
After you install everything, check the Build Version numbers - if they are out of date, you need to download and install the final build versions every released.

In hindsight what you should have done is download the Movie Studio trial not Pro.

I've no idea if this would work but it might save time with some of the recreation. Open your Pro project and open a blank Movie studio project. Create tracks in Movie Studio to match the Pro project. The try selecting your timeline clips in Pro and copy/paste to the Movie Studio project.

Why not render your first 2min...
than render the next 2
and end with whats left.

You would need to split the timeline into under 2 minute chunks, saving as separate files. It appears from comments in the Vegas forum that any project over 2 mins just won't render at all.
