Berlin, May 23, 2016 – MAGIX Software GmbH and Sony Creative Software Inc. have agreed that the German software and app provider will acquire the award-winning Sony Creative Software products as well as additional company assets.
Sony Creative Software has been setting benchmarks in the area of digital media design for years with their globally successful product lines targeted at every type of user and their industry-leading technology. Now the company is setting its focus elsewhere and letting go of nearly all of its software programs, tools, and audio collections.

A few clarifications:
Catalyst Browse and Catalyst Production Suite will continue to be developed by Sony for professional broadcast and production applications.
Magix will continue to support all current SCS customers who purchased products from Sony to ensure a seamless end user experience.

Posted 25 May 2016 18:07 #9"MAGIX has acquired Vegas Pro and several other Sony software applications. MAGIX did not purchase Catalyst Browse, Catalyst Prepare, nor Catalyst Edit (and some others) -- those are products I will continue to work on here at Sony.
Some of my former Sony colleagues have taken jobs with MAGIX (in fact, MAGIX appears to be hiring more: www.linkedin.com/pulse/openi...-klaus-schmidt ). I truly wish them well and I believe that Vegas has a strong future. A number of those people were part of Sonic Foundry before Sony purchased Vegas from them back in 2003, so this transition has an interesting precedent."

Posted 26 May 2016 18:51 #10From Gary Rebholz's (a long-time member of Sonic Foundry and SCS staff) LinkedIn page:
"I'm excited to announce that I have accepted the position of Product Owner with Magix. I will be leading the development team as we shape the future of Vegas Pro and Vegas Movie Studio, now owned by Magix."
A quick look into LinkedIn profiles show some other SCS staffers are moving as well.
