Eric D. of MAGIX has just updated the previously somewhat ambiguous part about activations in the KB article No. 5200.

It now reads:
"Can I still activate my older Vegas, ACID, and Sound Forge products?
Older versions will be activate-able using the serial supplied when the product was purchased."

( The previous version said: "Older versions will be activate-able for 5 years")
